Do I need to be a club member to participate?
No, members receive special discounts on our events and the ability to participate in executive elections, but anybody is welcome to participate in our events. Registration is now open, so consider signing up!
Do I need to be a student to participate?
No! Although we are a student organization under the Queen’s University student government, our events are open to the general public. Students get special discounts, though!
Can I only join at specific times of year?
You can join anytime at all! Every Monday we offer an intro lesson, so any week is the right week to start. Please check out our schedule for full details!
Do I need a partner?
Nope! You can come by yourself. We usually rotate partners throughout lessons and dances. That being said, if you’d like to come with a special partner and only dance with them – that’s okay too!
What types of shoes do I need?
Any type of sneaker usually works! Especially those with a flat bottom surface.
What do I wear?
Lindy hop is often associated with the culture of the 1920s and 1930s and people often wear vintage-inspired outfits to dance events. However, this is more common for our workshop weekends or special dances and is not at all necessary. Wear anything you feel comfortable exercising in!
Are you available for demonstrations or performance?
Our primary focus right now is on lessons and social dancing. As such, we are not available for stage performances or demonstrations.
