Hello swing dancers near and far! Queen’s Swing Dance Club (QSDC) is proud to be hosting the second annual Meet in the Middle workshop here in Kingston. We’ll start with the basics and then dive into some of the details.
Meet in the Middle is now over. We had a blast hosting swing dancers near and far and look forward to next year!
The Basics
We’re looking for people from far and wide. The farthest traveler will receive a special prize! We’ll be dancing to live bands, with workshops, a cabaret, and one awesome weekend!
When: February 26-28, 2016. See the schedule below.
Where: Kingston, see the dances section below for more info.
How: our enthusiasm, you, and you agreeing to abide by the Code of Conduct and Event Guidelines.
Schedule
Dances/Workshops
Friday night we’ll in the Partridge Room at the swanky Kingston Yacht Club. Featuring a fully-stocked bar, 180° view of the water, and great dance floor, we’ll be in for a treat as we kick-off the dancing for the weekend. Address is 1 Maitland Street.
Saturday afternoon we’ll have a set of beginner and intermediate workshops at Sydenham Street United Church. See the schedule above for more details on the workshops. Address is 82 Sydenham Street.
Saturday night we’ll be swinging in the magnificent Grant Hall on Queen’s campus. The very same hall where 1000s of Queen’s students graduate each year, this impressive space will also feature a full bar and more floor than your feet can handle. Address is 99 University Avenue.

Here’s a look at the venues on a map; in terms of scale they’re about 850 m apart if you walk (which is 4.225 furlongs for the Americans).
Bands
We’re excited to be featuring live bands both nights this year, and both from Kingston – Cranberry Dixie and Nostalgic Big Band Sound!
Cabaret and Showcase
Before the Saturday dance, we’ll be having a Cabaret to show our fellow dancers what talents and skills we have besides swinging. In between band breaks, we’ll have a showcase from different clubs. We need you to sign up! Contact the club to inquire about entering at queensswingdanceclub@gmail.com.
Shirts
We’re selling shirts for this event! The shirts are American Apparel, combed cotton, Raglan 3/4 sleeves and will feature the lovely design you see at the top of this page:
We picked the darkest colours available to avoid sweat stains. Shirts are available in XS to 2XL (unisex) sizing and can be selected on the SwingTix registration page. A limited number of shirts will be available for purchase at the event. The sizing chart is available at this link.
